The Law in This World
Director Cheung Chin Hung Screenwriter Ho Ching Yi
After his retirement, Kwong (50s) becomes a full time social worker in helping seniors fix their houses. After spending time with them, he realizes that these seniors all have a common concern: once they pass away, if the bodies remain unclaimed, they would be cremated and the ashes would be buried as a collective grave at the Sandy Ridge Cemetery. Kwong hears the news about an elderly man's body found in an apartment 4 weeks after he died. He wants to pay a visit to the man's house and gives him a proper farewell. Arriving at his apartment alone, he endures the potent and overwhelming smell, and is finally able to find a picture of the man as a funeral picture. At the apartment, Kwong holds a humble funeral for the deceased man, but it gets interrupted by a sudden visit from the daughter, whose reason of showing up gives Kwong a jolt.
