Synopsis
Exchange student Li Xiaoli comes to Fuchinobe, a remote corner of Tokyo, to study for a year. Stiff and awkward, he is set on finding a part-time job but keeps hitting walls, until his old classmate Qiuqiu helps him land a job at a Chinese restaurant called Nangokutei. Acting manager Guan Wei takes him in and looks after him, waiter Aoki sees him as a rival in love, and in the kitchen head chef Fu Laowan and junior chef Brother Song barely give him the time of day... Li Xiaoli's arrival breaks the silence of the basement floor and draws him into everyone's lives. Time slips by. Before the next spring arrives, some will stay and some will leave, and what will become of the bonds that have only just formed: a family for now, a friendship for the time being, something like love?
