Jury Citation

The jury found that the composer of The Bugle from Gutian drew on folk-song elements from Changting and Longyan in Fujian, combined with elements of contemporary popular music and a symphony orchestra, to present from many angles the historical events at the centre of the film, the Gutian Conference. It is a military film score with a distinctive appeal.
