Synopsis
Based on the deeds of the sisters Zhuoga and Yangzong, honored as "Role Models of the Times", and their father, two generations who guarded the border, the film was jointly produced by the Film Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the China Movie Channel and the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and directed by Zhang Xin. Sangjie Quba's family was once the only household in Yumai Township, Tibet. Withstanding a harsh environment, harassment from outside and the death of loved ones, they herded and guarded the border for 34 years. Like the galsang flower, they took root in the snowy frontier of the motherland and safeguarded thousands of square kilometers of national territory.
Jury Citation
My Himalaya tells the patriotic story of the sisters Zhuoga and Yangzong and their father, two generations who guarded the border for decades in a harsh natural environment few could endure. Through the clash of ideas between father and daughters, the daughters' pursuit of ideals and love, and the majestic, perilous Himalayan forest where they live, it shows the simplicity and nobility of the protagonists' patriotism. The images are grand and the emotion deep and moving. Winner of Best Low-to-Medium Budget Feature Film.
