Synopsis
Released over the 2020 National Day holiday, My People, My Homeland continues the collective approach of My People, My Country. Zhang Yimou served as chief producer, Ning Hao as chief director and Zhang Yibai as chief planner. The five stories were directed by Ning Hao, Xu Zheng, Chen Sicheng, Yan Fei and Peng Damo, and Deng Chao and Yu Baimei.
Jury Citation
My People, My Homeland uses an anthology structure organized along time and space to show the achievements of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in villages across five regions (east, west, south, north and central China), covering issues of wide public concern such as education and healthcare. It presents life's hardships and emotions in a comic style, giving its comic characters the substance of serious drama. It evokes the audience's attachment to their hometowns and, grounded in the new era, expresses new hopes for a better life. Winner of the Special Jury Award.
